RE: Good Recurve Bow
Most of the suggestions you recieved are great (Bear and Martin Mostly), but if your just starting, go ahead and pick one up on E-bay. I have bought a lot of bows there and if you pay attention to thier feedback score and a good description, you can get into a reliable bow for an excellent price. It's almost like renting a bow, because you can sell it and get a different one, most bows aren't losing their value and have actually been growing in value on e-bay. If you look for a while, you could get into nice bow in the 50-55lb range for around 150 bucks. More weight, more money. Sub 50 lbs are less and crowd the listings. Don't be afraid to buy an older bow...I shot my last two deer with a '68 Bear Kodiak Hunter of 57#. The older bows usually don't have a radiused or "rounded" shelf, but flat shelfed bows have killed a lot of deer. I just got my brother in law into trad hunting with a 50lb Ben Pearson 709 recurve with zebra wood riser for $62 with shipping. It was mislisted and should have gone for around $100. It shoots great and spits an arrow well, had a hard time giving it to him! Some more advice....shoot heavy heads and arrows...about 10 grains or so to the pound, you will save yourself a lot of headaches.
