Default KIK powder performance

I thought it best to start this in a new thread. Iorderedsome KIK powder this summer after reading some good reports about it and seeing the data from a couple ofcomparative tests in which it was used. When I called Powder Inc, I asked the gentleman there, I don't remember his name, what he thought about it. He referred to it as "the poor man's Swiss", saying he had a lot of customers, that shot in competition, whowere buying it for practice, while still using Swiss for meets. That clinched it for meand I went ahead and purchased some in both Ffg and Fffg.

I don't have a chronograph but the KIK definately develops more velocity than an equal volume of Goex. I can notice more recoil, at higher volumes, and the POI is higher, actually pretty close to what it is with Swiss. The KIK Ffg performs almost equally to Goex Fffg, in my rifles. I have one rifle with a 32" GM barrel in .45cal. I had mainly used Goex Fffg in it.KIK Ffg gives almost identical target results as an identical volume of Goex FFFg andburns just as cleanly. In mylarger bore rifles, I had to reduce the loads of KIK Ffg by 10%from thevolume of Goex Ffg that I used, to bring the POI back down to the sameplace on a target. The KIK Ffg is cleaner burning than Goex Ffg and leaves noticably less residue in the bore. Accuracy isexcellent with the KIK. I feel it might be a bit more accurate, but there is no way I can confirm that. It is certainly no less accurate.

Overall, I findKIKto be closer to Swiss in velocity per volume measure, and cleaner burningproperties, than it is to Goex, which I imagine is what spawnedthe "poor man's Swiss" tag.At a cost that is cheaper than Goex, that makes it quite a value, IMO. You can read about one comparative test of KIK here: http://www.norwestcompany.com/comparison.htm
It prettymuch mirrors what I have found. If you do a search, you can also find some positive comments about KIK on some of the BPCRforums. I would recommend that anyone shooting blackpowder at least try a lb of it, if they can get it, and form there own opinion.
