The stuff aint made for wipin your guns down with it! It works great if you use a little common sense. If you don't have one of the small orifice tubes for the can then DON'T spray it in the gun. I have been using it on my Savage ML10II to quickly strip the barrel of primer and sabot residue, the Savage has a CRAPPY, rough textured bluing that is very weak (have seen others rust quickly). Yet mine is still fine. I just remove the breechplug, point the gun muzzle end down (place it on a couple of paper towels waded on the garage floor or outside) and spray away. I haven't gotten any on the bluing (other than the muzzle which doesn't have any after a shot or two anyway) or stock and the gun is fine. I follow the brake cleaner with a brass brush (which I then clean with solvent remover) and then hit it with a couple of dry patches. The bore is shiny clean, the gun shoots great and looks like new.
Working with brake cleaner is just like using anyother harmful chemicals, you just gotta be careful and take your time and use your noggin!
