RE: Buying a 700 XCR, what caliber?
I used to look at and own alotof the new cartridges out there but the 30-06 can do just about anything and has proven itself in battle and in hunting. You can find ammo for it just about anywhere if in a pinch. Dont get me wrong though, I have a .308 that does just fine but not with bigger bullets like 200 or bigger. The 30-06 has factoryloads from 110 up to the 220 if its still made. There is also the Remington 55 grain .22 saboted accelerator round at about 4000 feet per second. There is more of a variety of .308 bullets than any other cartridge for reloading which is appealing also.Its justa greatall aroung cartridge.
