As what has been said before, I would shoot as many bows as you can and pick the one the fits you best. Two bows that I feel are really good at that price are the Bowtech Tomkat, which comes with site, quiver, arrow rest, peep,etc... and the birth cert. says it shoots IBO over 300fps. Price goes for$529 around St. Louis.

I also had the opportunity to shoot the Hoyt Powertec. This bow was $499 bare bow. I feel this bow is very durable and also has a lifetime warranty. The bow I shot was shooting 271fps with a heavier hunting arrow (forgot what weight).

I feel both of these bows are very durable and are plenty fast for killing a deer.
