As for us hiring help. That would be to big a pain in the butt. How many people do you think are available for us to put right to work? We would have to train them first putting us even further behind in our work. Do you realy want some newbee off the street mounting your trophy?
I was in one of the nicest gallery's in north America when I took my buck to Brian Dobson in Edmonton ..maybe you have heard of him ..he has his business runing like a fine tuned GTO ...he has people who do all the fleshing ..sends hiscapes out to be tanned ..when they get back his people preps the capes but he and one other do all the work on the mount itself ...kind of like an assembly plant...
and seems his work is pretty well known and he is well respected ..but he also knows his clients would like to have thier animal back ASAP ..it is a concern of his so he hired a full staff ..had he not done that the as much work as he gets we would have to wait two or three years for him.
DoctorDeath -- 1/28/2006 3:55:29 PM: It HAS to be obvious that most taxidermist KNOW this is a concern of most clients and just seems the wait must be due to lack of manpower or a lcak of consideration of their clients.
Give me a break apparently you are not aware of the kinda work it takes to do taxidermy. I have a 9 month waiting list and a 20 cubic foot freezer full to the brim with specimins. Probably 75 or so. Sadly not everyone can be 1st. Someone always has to be 75th. I also work a full time job and got to school 3 nights a week. Personaly I don't trust anyone else with my customers trophies. They are paying for my artistic ability not the ability of someone I hire.
