The Illinois Bowfishers will be hosting a educational and charity fundraising event June 3rd in Central Illinois.
The Lake Evergreen Charity Fun Shoot and will coincide with Comlara Park's 'Lake Fest' where we will have a booth and boats to give people an opportunity to try bowfishing.
Lake Evergreen is located in Mclean County Illinois, near Bloomington.
The time for the shoot is 7pm June 3rd til 7am June 4th. Teams will pay $10 perperson entry fee. This will be a unique tournament in that it will be similar to charity 'walk-a-thons'. Participants should secure sponsorships before hand for weight or number of fish taken. (example: a penny a pound or 10 cents per fish, etc.) There will then be two winners, one will be the team who takes the most fish, the other the one who raises the most money.
All money raised will go to Sportsmen Against Hunger. But remember this is a "fun" shoot" so even if you don't any sponsors come on out and join the fun.
At 6pm June 3rd we will have a BBQ at the shelter near the east ramp. There will be a banner to mark the spot. We will be taking registration all day at our booth, or at the shelter before the shoot. Right before the shoot starts we'll have a very short meeting to discuss some lake rules and then we'll head out to have some fun!
A couple things to remember, Evergreen has a 10hp limit and the entire lake is 'no wake' after dark. We will also make the shore from the pump house to the north side of turtle cove off limits to avoid disturbing campers. We'll discuss this at the meeting.
There are no 'cash' prizes for this shoot as the money all goes to The Illinois Sportsmen Against Hunger. However, there will be 500.00 worth of door prizes given out to the shooters. (winners will get first choice of theprize table)
Hope to see you there!
