Yeah, I've been doing that with hunting revolvers too when the deer is 'kissing-close'.

Sometimes that "ka-klick" is useful too, like when they are about to walk into cover and you want them to stop. As long as your sights are already pretty well lined up (less movement = better) they will often stop and eyeball you long enough for a shotwhen they hear the hammer coming back.
