Default RE: old farts

My brother and I shared our first bow...a 45lb Bear recurve...This was in the late 60's...we had 3 arrows and 2 Bear razorheads...and we killed deer and had passthroughs, no problem...

I can still remember the first time I pulled back on a compound bow...it was 1974, I was in college...the bow was a Bear Whitetail...I was amazed with the letoff...bought the bow, set the poundage at 55lbs, used the old Satellite broadheads with the thin razerblade heads...killed a ton of deer with...passthroughs were no problem...I used that bow well into the '90s...I did upgrade to Thunderheads...Only remember loosing one deer with it...Never shot over 25 yards and most were killed between 12-18 yards...

The big advantage to higher poundage is flatter trajectory and more energy in case you make a bad shot....The big advantage to getting older is you have learned to pass on risky shots and have the experience it takes to be setup properly for those high percentage shots.
