I was wondering if any of you older guys have had to deal with this or not. It seems that I can't do anything anymore without pulling a muscle or waking up sore. I used to pull 70 lbs. without a problem. Then the last few years I've started creeping down. Now I am thinking of just going ahead and getting a 50-60 lb. bow. I just don't see the need to keep up the macho image anymore, it's too painful. Has anyone had any problems with passthroughs at lower poundages?
I hardly think late 30's is old!!!From your profile you are only 38!It's not like you have one foot in thegrave and the other on a banana peel.
I'm 41 (just turned on the 13th) and I feel great with the exception of all the broken bones and torn ligaments I suffered throughout my football career. I still lift weights and stay active. Get out and get some exercise or something.

Don't just assign yourself to the fact that you can't pull back a 70lb bow anymore....do something about it. You are by no means old!! or even close, You should be in the prime of your life!
If you really want to drop your draw weight go ahead, you will still get passthroughs at 60lbs no problem. If you drop below that you might want to think twice about longer shots though.
I would suggest you start lifting some weights and build your strength back up. We will all get to a point where we will have trouble pulling back heavy bow weights at some point....some sooner than others, but don't go down without a fight!
