I can not resist a short discussion on this. Hornady has introduced a new shell for lever action rifles, both in the 30-30 category and the 45-70 category.
I realize the .308 bullet will not do much for the us in the ML world, but the .458 (45-70) bullet, not the shell,could be a real shot in the arm. If they are going to produce these shellsfor commercial sale it seems ony natural that they would allow purchase of the bullet for reloading.
Check this out, I would love to have some of these 325 grain bullets for a 50 cal ML. These are real rifle bullets operating in the velocity range that a muzzle loader could shoot them at. Certainly not the muzzle velocity, but at 100 yards it would really be effective.

[/align]SST's are probably about the same - but I think the bullet from this cartridge would make a great Elk Bullet from a 50 cal. with a .458 sabot.
