yes u heard right ..to me handgun's are toy's ,they can get rid of all of them .don't forget i hunt big game ,and have no use for them..my personel opinion ..
heinz, Harper/conservatives is not for banning handguns. He is for keeping a record/regulations of those owning handguns for recreational use but as I stated that has been policy in Canada for many years with regards to handguns.
I don't own any handguns currently nor do I see the need to ever own one again. However I am opposed to the banning because what is next???? If you look at what the Liberals set in motion in 1995 it is a bit scary to a big game hunter like ourselves what might be in store for the future? The track record is registery and confiscation! The fact is their resolve to strip canadians of firearms is nothing more than a knee jerk reaction to a spring of violent crimes. Studies point togun controldoes nothing to demote crime. Look at Australia? They imposed a similar handgun ban and program. Their gun related crime is actually up 40% since this was put in place. It just goes to show that responsible gun owners are not the ones to target here to get results?? This is just my opinion but such bans only further aid criminal activity, they create a profitable blackmarketbusiness, not to mention why would a criminal care if they broke another law. REALLY???? Fact is if you want a gun to commit a crime it can be had..lawis invisible to such individuals. The other thing many police chiefs/commanders are on record for saying they don't use the national registery as information before entering a premise/situation. They feel it is incomplete for one (ie: long guns 7 million are registered to date but in the 90's the census for such guns was pegged at 16 million in canada), so not a true representation. Police also know the overwhelming majority of gun owners aren't the ones to use the collection for crime. If the police don't believe such policies will help in reducing crime than why should any citzen? Just think if the liberals would have put that 1-2 billion into hiring more officers!!! It would be interesting to see if we would be in the same situation?
Harper has been staying away from these hot button issues that got him in trouble 18 months ago, letting Martin and crew put the foot in their own mouths instead. It appears to be working!
I know most are one his side, but as gun owners we must unite with all gun owners. There loss can ultimately impact us! Banning of hand guns will not solve the problems we face today, we all know that. So what will be the next course? More bannings? Already face reloading regs, been talk about semi auto and pump CF's/shotguns being tossed...What is next?
Get out and vote monday, make sure anybody who shares your passion for the outdoors thinks about what road we may be on if it continues! We have anreal opportunity to change this thing around in more areas than just gun control!
