Default RE: Mossberg 500 vs. Remington 870

870 no doubt!I don't like the top side safety on the mossberg. The trigger is so much easier to pull on an 870,and you get what you pay for.Is a 28" that much heavier to hold up than a 24"?Somewhat,but there is only a 4 ounce difference(7lb 4oz vs 7lb8oz lbs)Unless you are weak it won't matter.Just scoot down, and prop it on your knee.If you have to swing around behind you,you are already in trouble. When you set up you need to make sure there are no vines to snag on.I like my long pole 28" barrel for turkeys/deer.It holds a better pattern than the 24" does to me,but it is the "trend" to go short on turkey guns.I'm not trendy.[8D]

All around?I'd have to say 26".I like my 26" barrel for small game/birds etc.You can use all kinds of chokes to achieve what you want.THE 26 WILL be fine for turkeys too, just pattern it,andfind you range.
