A vane is quiet until you get a nick in one. It is fast if you are shooting long distances (hunters do not). It is slower at close range. It is durable when hitting brush, but deflects much more when it does. A vane will lower FOC, which is not good for broadhead flight.

I often use vanes for 3D, but when hunting I use feathers with a helical twist.
