And that is my point exactly - we switch to PB's because they ARE easy to load. Manufactures suggest them for the same reason. I am not a big gun collector but I use 2 Remington's and A&H inline and a whole slew of side hammers - I load and shoot sabots - I never use a short starter - thumb pressure and then steady pressure on a ram rod - thats it.
If you want to shoot PB's and they work for you - continue - confidence is huge in successful hunting, but there are sabots out there that will go down your gun in a manner that does not require standing or pounding on the ram rod.
The 300 grain XTP is a .452 bullet - there are great .451's out there and there are thinner sabots than you probablably were supplied especially if they were Hornady sabots.
