I have a .416 rem mag. I use to pad a heck of a lot of towels when I benchshoot. It did not use to bother me so much before I put a scope on it. I treated it more like a shotgun. Lift, small correction and bang. The scope really made me lean more backwards and probably loosen my stock weld too.
