To avoid a deer's nose, first pick your stand site with wind direction in mind. It should be more important than how well you can see and how much concealment you have. If the wind changes direction, move quietly downwind again. If still-hunting, work into the wind or crosswind, never down.
Second, leave as little human scent in the area as possible. This means no urinating near your stand, walking about, or leaving garbage lying around (this shouldn't be done anyway, deer notwithstanding).
