As its a single shot rifle there is no point to using regular 30-30 bullets you could develope a beautiful load using a 130-150 gr. pointed bullet that would bedeadly on deerout to 200 and have a good trajectory too.
Keep in mind even though it's a "single shot", it's still a 30-30 and most of the pointed bullets were designed to work at "higher" velocity than the 30-30 will drive them "especially" at longer distances.

You MUST use a bullet designed to work in the velocity range you are pushing it out of your gun! (no matter what the gun/cartridge or caliber is) "If" you don't, is's the very thing that causes wounded animials to run off to die later!
