I have tried to use them in the field but the situation never does work for me. Works great at the range. Also, some scopes even the best Ziess, has to be tapped on bacause the springs on the reticles. And still sometimes it takes a shot to actually get the scope to move that MOA you adjusted. Try the window test to see if you scope is capable. Not many are. I find it to be a tough test on scopes

Shoot a group, move up 5MOA and to the left or right 5MOA. Shoot a group, move down 10MOA, shoot a group, move left or right 10MOA, shoot a group, move up 10MOA shoot another group and then move over 5 and down 5 back to original position to see if its back to the original POI. Also tells if your adjustments are actually a MOA or not. I suggest this at 100 yards.
