i shot a spike with one this year. last day of the season and i rushed a little and i was standing(yes im ashamed) hit it a little further back than wanted still managed to nip a lung. the deer stillfell like nothing ive ever heard or seen before. it was like one of those huge pines just crashed. another time i was hleping a buddy track a wounded deer it happened to pop up about 10 yds in front of me. it left a massive hole in the entry and exit. ) but that was the only time ive ever seen excessive damage from the 300 mag. so if u keep your shots outside ten yards i think you'll be good btw i use 180 corelokts.
