RE: Backtension release for hunting
i've been working on bt for 7 months now. i've just now isolated my rhomboid and its the only thing activating the shot. my teacher said 10 months of work is what it will take. your shooting will go to crud. you'll have your moments, but it will markedly decline. i would not suggest trying without a teacher. i'm not sure where you are, but larry wise offers classes in penn. and in various places around the country.
on my last hunting trip of the season my 2 finger pure bt release is what i took in the tree with me. for whatever reason i can't shoot my thumb trigger anymore. its a 4 finger and feels like a giant pair of brass knuckles in my hand, and within 20 minutes i'm drive by shooting. hopefully by next year i'll have the bt so ingrained it won't be an issue, but if it is i'm going to a pinky or index release (for hunting).
on a side note of the 12 people i was in bt school with, with larry wise, i'm the only one left still standing. no one else could take the drop in scores. however, its starting to come together and i believe i have something in store for them this spring.
