I am also a diehard .280 Rem owner. I,ve been shooting and reloading fortwo differfent rifles for 10 years. I still think it is an underrated caliber. As far as a load for moose, I loaded the Nosler 160gr. Accubond with 52gr of RL19 powder, Federal cases, CCI 200 Primers at 3.330" C.O.L., this combination shoots a sub .5" group at 100 yards from my Remington 700 SS. I took a large Canadian bull moose last year with a one shot kill high through the shoulder, the bull never took one step. The recovered bullet retained 69% of it's weight.I might add it was a 50 yard shot. I plan to use the 140gr Accubond for deer, but right now I'm using 140gr Nosler BT with 52gr IMR 4350, Rem cases, CCI 200 primer at 3.310" C.O.L., this load shoots a sub .5" group at 100yd from my Ruger M77. It's a devastating performer on deer size game. I can't ever recall needing a follow-up shot, but I've seldom had the bullet exit! Give these loads a try, I hope they work as well for you!!
