RE: Any good 280 loads?
I've owned a 280 Rem. for better than 10 years now. I like 140 gr. bullets the best for deer sized game. I've gained my best accuracy with IMR4831 and RL19. I use Sierra SPBT with IMR4831 and I use Combined Technologies BST with RL19. If you can get your rifle to shoot well at the upper end of loading data you should be able to meet or exceed 3000 fps with RL19 and a 140 gr. bullet out of the 22" barrel you Featherweight will have. If you have a needto use the 280 on bigger gametry a 160 or 175 gr. bullet in front of IMR7828 or H4831.
As for free loading data to get you started most of the powder manufacturer's have free data on their website's.This will include the powders I've mentioned. Remember start with minimum loads and work up no more than 1 grain at a time until you reach your desired accuracy of pressure signs occur. For anyone new to reloading it is beneficial to buy at least one quality reloading manual such as Nosler's newest edition.
Best of luck and you have a great round and rifle that you can enjoy for a lifetime.
One small side note is that over the last year Federal has introduced several new loads for the 280. Ifthey aren't available in your area they are definitely available online.
