Default RE: Weaver k4 scopes

ORIGINAL: Onesock

I am thinking of purchasing a Weaver k4 2.5X
for my Marlin 444. I think this should be a good scope for bear hunting. Any thoughts?
Well, you CAN'T buy a 2.5X K4, because a K4 is 4X! But you could buy a Weaver K2.5!

While I have no experience with the current Weaver K models, the old steel-tube, made in USA Weaver K modelsare good scopes. Durable and optically sufficient for their intended use. I have used Weaver K models in powers from 1X to 10X, and still have several of them onsome rifles. They may not be as good as the latest Leupold top-of-the-line scopes, but they still perform their intended duties. So on rifles I don't use every day anymore, they will stay put! As a matter of fact, I even use a couple of old Weaver J-scopes.
