good job, you need to sight that gun in.you shot and blew the other antler off.seems like when they use to shoot squarrels and hit the branch and the percussion knocks them out. see sometimes the larger calibers does the trick without meat damage. had to edit this,i see you got the deer sites on allready good job again

Just to set the record straight, the "missing" antler looks as if it never developed or broke off early in the season.
Be assured that I have spent many hours on the range finding the right loadfor that Hawkens to hit accurately and being confident that it is sighted in as best possible. Taking agun out in the woods without having it sighted in would go against my ethics as a hunter.
My shot hit himabout midway back, traveled through and broke the opposite shoulder. Not the best shot I have ever taken (probably caused byadrenalin) but it did the job and looks to have put him down quickly.
