Iam in the navy and one of my officers sent me this story of his hunt he had in florida. i think this is hillarious............................
Hey, I went hunting at Avon Park on Monday. I spotted a few hogs deep in the swamp and made a stealthy advance. As I made my way through the 2 foot deep mud I walked right up on 4 hogs bedding down. With not much time I shot a nice sow (121 pounds) from 8 feet away with my muzzle loader. Well friend, that's when all hell broke loose. In about 2 seconds a 200 pound boar was on me. Having just my muzzle loader and one quick load (which I dropped in the mud when he charged) I started beating him in the head with the butt of my gun. He ran into the woods circled around and charged again. This time I had my knife in hand and got 2 good stabs in his neck before he retreated into the brush with my knife sticking out of his neck. He circled around again and charged. Being a fearless fighter guy I did the natural thing... ran over to a fallen tree and shimmied up it out of his reach where I waited bravely for 20 minutes. I then, feeling the adrenaline from the kill and not hearing the boar climbed down and started dragging my sow. I made it about 3 feet when, you guessed it, he's back. Again I played bird and perched up in the tree for another 15 min. I finally climbed down and was able to retrieve my sow and start the 1 mile long haul through 2 feet deep mud. After finally getting him back to my truck, with the help of a friend I shanghaied I realized a few good learning points from this episode. 1. I lost a very good knife. 2. I almost needed to change me britches. 3. Carry a side arm or hunt from the trees. 4. Never hunt more than 50 yards from your truck, I'm too old to pull an animal through a swamp like that. and 5. I've never felt so excitedor proud of an animal and the only thing that could have turned out better would have been if my knife wounds on the boar would have dropped him at my feet.
