Although they must be tough I´d think it sounds like an exelent breed for harehunting, since they dont often go very far away from were they first were found and yet can play marvellous tricks on the dog. Can bloodhounds easily be trained not to go after certain game? For instance it sounds like a really questionable dog for going after unwounded deer. I mean with such persistance and size in combination I´d guess it could run a deer to death.
