Aluminums have better specs out of the box for the same or less money than most carbons. There are also more spine choices and for me they are easier to work with and tune.
If I ruin an arrow it usually doesn't matter what it's made of, it would be ruined either way. I am as carefull handling my arrows as I am my bow or any other weapon.
I don't mind heavy arrows either.
