Actually, I describe it as a Beaver on Steroids! He looked alot like a beaver, had a very nice thick pelt, and webbed-like feet. But he has no tail! Otherwise, yeah, he looked like a beaver...a VERY BIG beaver! I hadn't planned on taking a Capybara during my hunt, but they are actually pretty impressive animals. I was surprised when I actually saw one at just what a nice looking animal they are.

They spend most of their time in the water during the day and come out at night to graze, usually. But we found this big boy out sunning himself in the middle of the afternoon while we were looking for other game. We'd had several days of colder weather and then a beautiful spring day in the mid-70's. I guess he was out lovin the weather just like I was!

I don't have the pelt and skull yet. Not getting a shoulder mount done. Getting the skull cleaned and polished and the fur should make a very nice rug. The meat was taken by the Goucho's (the cowboys that worked the ranch). Nothing went to waste! <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>
