You are probably correct, and should only be done if you are certain the first is hit good. This is the first year in my area that we have multible buck tags in our possession at one time, so it has never been legal to do so. That is why shooting another on the same hunt was never an option, and still is not one for me.
I hope in areas where it is legal to do so it is not common practice to unload your quiver through the course of a day then come back to "see what you have shot". That is the impression I got from the story and that is why i objected.
I guess if you see it go down or know it was a great hit there is no problem in waiting out for another.
