Default RE: Savage 110 scope base question?

Savage did manufacture afewm-110s with anintergal Weaver style base machined into the front and rear action rings on some rifles manufactured early onbut problems with proper alignment caused them to abandon the practice. This confiruration was quite common in the '60s and '70s & '80s, especially on rimfire rifles and European influenced centerfires and is still used byRuger and CZ. If you have good front to rear alignment, you'll be ok with Weaver style rings, but be sure to check for proper alignment in both the verticaland horizontal planes with a set of alignment bars. You may want to consider aset of Burris Zee rings with offset inserts to correct anyerror.

If the bases are not machined and are silver soldered or glued, then theinstallation was most likely aftermarket.
