I'd stick to the shorter barrel if it was me as well. My old man took my Browning A-Bolt 7mm elk hunting last fall (26" barrel) and hated it in the mountains. IT didn't fit in a scabbard very well, was a pain walking thru trees with, etc.

So I decided then when I draw my elk tag, I will have my Browning re-barreled with a shorter barrel.
