Well I am not the only one that has a good shooting ruger out of the box.
My Ruger is a 77 MKII all weather with the old style stock in 300 win mag. right out of the box it shot great, groupin about 3/4" at 100 yds.
The 223 consistently shoots 0.5" 5-shot groups at 100m with Speer 52gn HPs. The only thing I did to the rifle was a polish the sear and change the trigger spring. Otherwise, out of the box.
This is the first 100-yard group I ever shot with it, using five rounds of REMINGTON 175-grain round-nose Corelokt factory ammo with a Lyman All-American 4X scope! The aiming point is a 1" square black GI target paster.....
It shoots
better with handloads.
Oh and as it seems I am not the only one with the magazine problem from the tikka.
had a tikka once and after about 500 rounds the magazene started to plumb fall out of the rifle. Which started to become a problem because when i was walking it fell out one day[:@] and i was never able to find it.
Farmanimal seems to have had a good experience with ruger as well.
Ruger M77 MkII 270 win, leupold vxII, Shot 1 ragged hole at 100 yards with 130gr winchester power points.
Mabey Just becuse I hunt in northern montana and I would not want
PLASTIC bolt slides to fail on me out in the field, is enough reason to get any gun (eccecpt for mabey a rem 710) over a tikka.
ONE IN A MILLION I think not!
