kkeiser,
AnotherXXXX Beginner Question
This use to be a really easy answer - today it is a little more complicated...
240 XTP vs 240 XTP Mag - it use to be these were both .430 bullets produced by Hornady - The mag was designed to shot at higher velocities than the regualr xtp. If you look at the nose of aregular xtp the copper will quit at the hollow point - while the xtp mag the copper rolls over into the hollow point. This all allows the mag to hold together a higher velocities and will reduce the tendancy of the bullet to blow up at contact at high velocity.
Second verse - Now Hornady is also producing a 240 xtp but it is .452 caliber - so you really need to pay attention to bullet you have. Generally if you are buying a bubble pack the 44 caliber 240's will come with a Green sabot and again generally it will be a MMP sabot and if you are purchasing a 45 cal 240 xtp it will come with a Black sabot and again generally it will be an MMP sabot.
Third verse - depending on which bullet pack you buy, either Hornady of TC you will get two different sabots. If it is a 45 Hornady generally you will get an MMP HPH-12 black sabot, if it is a TC pack it will generally come with a MMP HPH-24 sabot .002 thinner than the 12.
Hope you find some of this useful..
