Hey Taz,
At least you
SAW some deer! Saturday the 5th, I was out real real early and tricked up my ground blind down at Powhatan WMA. I was all set up by early dawn. Guess what I saw.... NOTHING! Not a deer to be found. I paid attention to the wind and came in the east side of the WMA to the spot I picked out previously. By 9:30 - 10:00, I was roasting in the heat. I had shorts and a T-shirt on under my lightweight mesh camo pullover suit, but it was still way too hot. I met up with two other hunters who also gave up. They were saying that since it's still hot, that the deer are moving REAL EARLY, like 4:00am or something - then they lie low for the day.
Hopefully with this cooler weather coming, I'll be able to see some deer and draw on a nice one.
Talk to you later.
