Butch last week was a mess, it started off opening day when instead of hunting I got to go to the State Fair(family first). Then Monday I did hunt the morning, had two fawn(no spots)and two doe come by the stand, I could have easily taken one of the fawn, but couldn't seem to bring myself to draw on them and the doe never came inside 35-40 yards, then 15 minutes later had two more doe that never came in closer than 50 yards. About 20 minutes after that I watched a nice 8 point cross a field about 100-125 yards out, nice tall rack, not much of a spread though, maybe 17-18 inches. The wind basically went stupid for the rest of the day, it would go from almost dead calm to barely blowing in every direction of the compass. Tuesday morning watched a doe and a buck(6 point)graze to within 75 yards and decide they would head off in the opposite direction. Wendsday had one come in from the last place I thought one would come, never saw it, heard it blow I guess about 50 yards from my stand and take off like a bat out of hades! Saw a doe at about 80 yards that refused to come any closer. Thursday morning was a "Honey Do" day! Friday the wind was all freaky again, never saw a thing. Saturday I woke up to a case of the galloping cruds which is not something you want to try hunting with!!! Saw a lot of deer, relaxed, and was semi frustrated. Over all it was a lot better than working!!! Did you go?
