Since it will be your first time I would start off getting either a push button box call or a regular box call. They are the easiest to use and sound great. As far as a decoy, no you dont need one. I usually dont use them but I have about 15 of the things. Sometimes you need them to bring a bird in and other times they scare birds off. For your first time I would say no, dont use one. If you are looking for a good video to actually teach you stuff about turkey hunting, search on the internet and but the video "So, you want to be a turkey hunter" by Hunters Specialties.
