I bought one of those AmeriStep climbing stands at WalMart, probably about a month ago, for $89. I have used it about 5 times since then and the only thing I don't like about it is that it is heavy, it weighs 35 lbs. That weight wouldn't be a problem for me if there were an ergonomic carry design to the stand, but there is not. It is quite uncomfortable to sling the bottom portion over my shoulder and then carry the top part of it in one hand and my gun in the other. I hunt public land so leaving it in the woods is something I won't do unless I'm finishing up at days end and I know for sure that I'll be back at first light the next day.

I wanted a stand that was safe and of sturdy construction. This stand fits that description and at 35 lbs. it should[]. My next stand will be something lighter and the most important thing will be portability.
