Well, I prefer the 175-grain Nosler Partition in mine. It has great penetration for heavy game, yet lower velocity, so it destroys less meat on lighter stuff like deer. In addition, my Ruger No. 1B shoots 175-grain bullets into 1" at 200 yards.

I know a lot of people say "if you're losing too much meat with the lighter bullets,it's because you are shooting them in the wrong place!" True! BUT, a deer doesn't always pose for you broadside with no obstructions in the way so that you can shoot them straight throughthe ribs just behind the shoulders every time!! The uncooperative varmints!!
