Reefdonkey,It has always been my impression that the 25-06,270,and30-06 are the same casing with it necked down to the proper diameter.I have seen them side by side,and I am with you.They seem to be the same length to me.My 30-06 will chamber my friends 270 shell.So,I guess I'm agreeing with you.There is nothing wrong with my gun.I will check it again to make sure,and I will report back whether I'm right or wrong.
