Are you sure about that? Because the only difference between the .270 and the 30-06 bullet is the diameter of the neck and the bullet itself. Other than that the casing dimensions are the same. I neverthought of it as a defect, because I know of other instances where this can happen. For instance my Sig pistol is a .40 S&W, however the same clip is used in both the .40 S&W and the .357 Sig. Actually you can buy a new barrel and convert from one caliber to the other. Plus, I am pretty sure that there is nothing wrong with the gun. Making sure that you have the right ammunition is one of the NRA’s “Ten Commandments of Firearms Safety” for this very reason.
