I've owned several 270's, 30-06's, 280's, 308's and about everything all around them, but for my "light" rifle i chose the 280 Rem..

I chose it over the 270 Win. because if needed, i can drive heavier bullets for the bigger animials like moose. In my experience the160, 1757mm bullets easily out perform the 150, 160 270 bullets on big game.

I chose it over the 30-06 because for most of my shooting i use lighter bullets and that means a little less recoil, with a bit flatter trajectory than 30 cal. bullets with the same SD.

The 308 Win. is a good round and will go in a short action, but for bigger animials i like heavier bullets in 30 cal, than i'm comfortable with in a 308 Win....

Anyway, for me it was a good choise, and i'd do it all over again.
