I looking to get a new rifle in the near future, probably leaning towards the Tikka t-3 light stainless or the Sako Finnlight. Now the gun is probably going to be used 99.9% of the time on whitetail deer (but occasionally for a coyote or black bear if i happen by one while in the woods.)

Because i will be dropping close to 2 grand if i go with the Sako and a leopold scope that i am looking at i would just want to maximize my bang for the buck (not ruling out either Elk or Moose in the future but nothing regular or more than a 1/2 dozen hunts total in the next 20 years)

I have alsways had a 308 and like the cartridge but for that .1% of the time that the rifle will be used for larger game is the extra thump of a 30-06 or 270 WSM worth it (i am going by chuck hawk recoil charts) for the 99% of the time that i wioll be using it. Recoil is not a mjor problem but i wold like to use the gun to also shoot at the range for fun (notjust the 1 or 2 shots at deer a year)

Just looking for some advice or input. i've been reading this sight for some time and all the comparisons but now its my rifle.
