My problem with corn is the coons. I have had as many as 7 on a trail cam picture with 5 being pretty normal. On the gravity feed barrells, they will go thru 100lbs per week. I went to broadcast feeders and set them for minimal time-2 seconds twice a day and it seemed like the coons must be spinning them and dumping the feed. I think I will have to start trapping.
Setting your feeder for daylight hours only , and having an electrified varmint guard on the slinger , really cuts into the coons nosh opportunities . Coons will come out during the day for an easy meal , but they're not as eager if it makes their pelt stand on end and they wind up with nothing . Watching those furry freeloaders do the kilovolt dance is always entertaining .
