I know you need high leupold rings with standard bases with a 50mm. And you need medium for 40mm. That is you use leupold bases with dovetail. I work this way. I would buy both. Cause I hate making several trips. Then return the ones you don't need. I would mount it low as possible with 1/8"-1/4" room at the objective.
