I'd pass on the 257Robts., and look at the 6.5x55 Swede. The Swede makes for a much more effective deer cartridge, using 140gr. bullets in its' standard factory loadings, and there's a 156gr. load also available. Recoil is still very mild.
The Swede can be had in the Ruger 77, and is also available in the Wincherster Featherweight stainless.
