Bought my first muzzleloader
I got my hands on a little extra money and before I wasted it on something like food or rent, I picked up a NEF Huntsman. You gotta love priorities.
I took it to the range and tried some 300 grain sabots pushed by 100 grains of pyrodex pellets. I was just shooting offhand and I got 1.5" groups at 40 yards with the factory sights. That's pretty good for me shooting offhand with any unscoped rifle. recoil was pretty much identicle to a 12 gauge shotgun firing a stout birdshot load.
The only thing I don't like about the gun is the telescoping ramrod. It has to be extended to pack in a load, and then retracted again for storage. This takes some time meaning a followup shot will be unlikely in a hunting situation. This is kind of a moot point due to the time it takes meto start a sabot down the barrel.
All in all a pretty good value for $170.
