Default RE: Best long range deer caliber

So what if ya have a 7mm.....You have now clue how it yours shoots past 100yrds in the field......
On the contrary, when sighting in my rifle and checking before each and every season, I shoot from 50, 100, 200 and 300 yards, so I do have some clue of how my 7mm shoots on paper. Just because I'll shoot at a paper target 300 yards away, doesn't in any way mean that i will attempt that on a living, breathing animal. Besides, I seem to be doing quite well with my 100 yard limit. I've already killed the biggest deer this year, out of all the ones I have shot. 200, 300, 1000 yards that you can shoot, makes no difference to me. Until I stop seeing deer from 100 yards in, I will keep things the way they are. And on a side note, to tell you the truth, I've never in my life seen a deer 200 or 300 yards away. But you may be hunting in flat land somewhere, I am in TN. Plus I always put my stand right in the perfect honey hole. So good luck with your sniper ability, I couldn't really care. If that’s what you need to do to kill a deer then good for you, I just hope that you don't wound him and he runs off and dies or worse, suffers the rest of its life. I've seen too many deer like that from ppl like you that insist on taking those long range shots. maybe your good enough to take them consistently. Its still too risky for me to want to try.

But make a note, I'll assure you that if I am in dyer need of meat, my family is dieing and I've been snowed in, there is a epidemic of hunger going around and the closest deer I see is 500 yards away, I'll make sure my MOAs are lined up, I'll make sure that my POA and Windage/Elevation are correct and then I'll attempt to kill him.
