AKMOOSE - You are really 'way out of my area, I'm down here in Southeast AK. But seeing as you are posting from AK, you ought to mosey over to the "Alaska" thread and post your questions on there.
Here's a few pointers: You've got a pretty good locally-owned sporting goods, hunting-type store there in downtown Eagle River (I just can't remember its name). When you're in Anchorage, check out Mt. View Sporting Goods across the Old Seward Highway from the University Mall - I killed a lot of time in there, and they have a lot of printed hunting-related information at the entrance to the store.
If you go over to "
www.state.ak.us" website and click on the small blue "Departments" prompt near the center-bottom of the page, it will take you to a selection point where you can access the Department of Fish and Game and get info on licenses and etc. After that, you are pretty much "on your own" and can pick and choose from any number of their source materials.
If I were you, I'd ask around about the rabbit hunting over on the Point MacKenzie side of the Inlet. I always wanted to try that about this time of the year (rabbits turning white against a dark background) when I was living up there, but I managed to pick the only non-snow winter in ages! I hear its a real kick, and a lot of good exercise on snowshoes. Good luck and good hunting!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
