I think I missed the other thread , but it sounds like your a good person who admits his mistakes. I can give ya a couple tips on changing your luck (I've been there).
Plan for the worst!

Take your bow & arrows with ya and leave everything else at home!
I've done it before , it works! I was having such bad luck I figured I wouldn't need my knife for field dressing so I left it at home.<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

Wouldn't ya know it , I ended up field dressing a big doe with a thunderhead blade<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Sometimes it seems when your least prepared , you have the best of luck!
